An Italianate Jewel of the Green Mountains
Three and a half stories of wood and slate, crowned with ornate cornices and arched windows—the Manchester Music Hall is an enduring example of 19th-century Italianate craftsmanship. From its finely detailed friezes to the rhythmic symmetry of its façade, every element reflects the refinement and ambition of the Orvis family’s vision for The Equinox.
Reimagined, Never Forgotten.
A story of preservation, purpose, and quiet reinvention.
In 1912, as The Equinox entered a new era of hospitality, the Music Hall transformed from stage to suite. The great auditorium was divided into lodging for staff and guests, while the north façade retained its most iconic features—pilasters, cornices, and the arched windows that once framed the stage. Each generation left its mark, balancing preservation with purpose.
