Though the original structure no longer stands, its history and influence continue to be remembered and honored today. This chronology reflects the life and legacy of the former Manchester Music Hall, tracing its evolution from a 19th-century performance venue to a cherished part of Manchester’s cultural heritage. More than a record of architecture and events, it serves as a tribute to the artistry, spirit, and shared memories that made the hall such a meaningful landmark in The Equinox story.

1868 — A Vision Takes Shape

Franklin Orvis builds the Manchester Music Hall beside The Equinox House, creating a 500-seat auditorium with bowling alleys and billiards below — a cultural centerpiece for the growing resort village.

1870s–1880s — Manchester’s Gathering Place

The Hall becomes the heart of community life, hosting concerts, plays, lectures, and Burr & Burton Seminary graduations — a space where guests and villagers gather as one.

1909 — A New Form of Leisure

The Equinox transforms the Hall into a recreation venue known as the Casino, featuring billiards, dances, and even an indoor putting course for guests.
